Still in, not serving anymore.
My heart is not into it. But, I have many friends and family very active. Just taking it very slowly, but on my terms.
because it wasn't true anyway.
it was a dream.
the insanest dream, to believe that i was going to live forever.. but today i am alive, and i am determined to travel the seconds between life and death aware of my mortality.
Still in, not serving anymore.

THE EDITOR, Sir:
The principal of St. Hilda's School is facing attacks from all directions because she reversed a decision to make a student identified on her application form, filled out by her mother, as a Jehovah's Witness (JW).
The student's mother has since accused the school of discrimination, claiming the child is not really a Witness. The faith is so different from all others one is forced to wonder why a parent would just pluck that denomination out of the air. I can empathize with the principal because of what I have observed first hand.
I was born and grew up in Brown's Town. My home was a stone's throw from St. Hilda's and my sisters attended that school. My brother's sons later attended a school in that town. They were bright, creative and disciplined. One day, in a phone call to my mother, the principal told her that my older nephew would be the next head boy. She was ecstatic.
This would be the third head boy in the family. So she decided to share the good news with his father - my brother - who worked in Kingston and was himself, a former head boy. There was just one problem. She did not know that he was recently converted to the Witness faith.
Resources prevented him from chartering a helicopter to get to Brown's Town. But he got there in about the same time. The principal for that school was made to understand that under no circumstances were his sons to be engaged in any extracurricular activities. They were to attend classes and return home. On another occasion, he and I were passing a school playing field in the Mona area where sports day was in progress. He winced at the sight of children participating in a race, claiming that it was competition and that is not a good thing.
I find Jehovah's Witnesses to be quiet, peaceful and pleasant. Beyond that I do have some concerns about their views on persons outside of their faith, their country and their role in society.
In fairness to its present leaders, there have been doctrinal changes. In fact, between 1917 and 1928, they changed their doctrines 148 times. I find that they are easily offended. So persons like myself - who do not take myself or the world too seriously, are frequently, unwittingly, offending them. Persons who associate with them have to be careful of humor of any kind.
My main concerns are they will not serve in the military or defend their country. The rest of us will have to do that. They can't salute the flag because they believe patriotic feelings towards their own country is wrong. They do not celebrate Christmas, birthdays or any other holidays. They will not vote. In fact, there are 141 things listed, officially, that Jehovah Witnesses can't do. And number 90 on that list reads, Take on leadership role in a school.

if it has not already been done, i would like to introduce a new topic.
for me, i would like to know the whereabouts and what's up with some of my former friends and acquaintances.
to start: some folks i used to be close to at cape cod mass: bob and pam fragosa , dick and valerie davis, charles harutunian (sic).
I remember Jack Ashenback from Port Salerno FL.
Pretty even tempered Elder. I guess his age now when have around 70, that's a little to die of Alzheimer's disease, but then Eva Skinner, a friend of died at age 69.
just heard from a reliable source that some at the canadian branch have received their lay-off notices under their doors at bethel.
don't know what the letter looks like.
probably something like, " the tribe has spoken, bring us your torches"
i went and visited a longtime elder and friend of mine today in a nearby congregation(its been about 4 months since we talked).
i told him a friend in brooklyn told me some big changes are coming and that a letter was to be read to all congregations this sunday.
he tells me that he check his mail on tuesday and didn't see anything.
The panic has set in.
At the meeting last night, many were saying something is going on!

He tells me that he check his mail on Tuesday and didn't see anything. Then he said let me check again. Then he says, "Oh, a undated Letter", he opens it reads it out loud to me, then says, "I need to contact everyone in my Service Group". I said, "You might want to check with the other Elders first".
He calls me later and says: "I was wrong to read the letter to you(he's over 70), The letter is Confidential, I made a mistake, please do not tell anyone".
I said: "I would never do that to You. However a Sister in your Hall, whose son is a CO is telling everyone about this letter". ( She has always been a self-righteous, unmarried for many years, B.tch, Elder wanna be. She even ratted on me once for something really silly.)
does anyone have an accounting of those properties?
which properties and possible value of sale?.
sounds like that the watchtower may want to sell quickly?
i just texted a very good remote worker friend, said i heard that there is a reduction in force coming at bethel and i hoped he wouldn't be affected.
.
he said its true, its not a rumor.
a good source just just told me that at morning worship today that the governing body announced that a total of 1600 bethelites will be let get go and not transferred to warwich when the last property is sold in brooklyn and all kingdom hall building projects are on hold for at least a year so that all the focus will be on the preaching work.
I remember the food at the Conventions and Assemblies. They made Money until it was changed to a donation for the food.
All of sudden, they were losing money for the lack of Donations.
Food Program ended, problem ended!
